Taking MIT OCW to Ecuador

MIT publishes its course materials online for free. Yet, slow Internet speeds overseas can make it challenging to download large files of lecture videos and other materials. MIT OpenCourseware addresses this issue by collaborating with non-profit educational organizations across the globe.

We helped set up the first MIT OCW mirror site in South America in partnership with the Escuela Superior Politecnica del Litoral in Guayaquil, Ecuador. A local area network was also created at the Escuela Superior Politecnica del Ejercito in Quito, Ecuador.

Ecuadorian students had now access to more than 2000 MIT OCW course materials in local servers. This is a copy of a newspaper ad for the program.

  1. An interesting discussion is worth comment. I think that you should write more about this
subject matter, it may not be a taboo subject but generally folks don’t speak about
such topics. To the next! Cheers!!
